Summer Course 2017 Saturday 22–Tuesday 25 July 2017
Our 2017 residential summer course will be held in July at Whaley Hall, Whaley Bridge.
Due to popular demand, we have extended the course by a day this year to give us
more chance to spend time doing the thing we love best … playing our flutes!
This course is designed for young flautists of Grade 5 and above standard who would
like the opportunity to improve aspects of their playing in a friendly and fun environment.
As well as technique classes, flute choir, small ensemble groups and a fantastic
recital given by our course tutors, participants are able to work on improving compositional
skills (particularly important for GCSE and A level music) and conquer their fears
of piccolo playing. We also offer a fantastic opportunity to perform in a masterclass
with one of our course tutors accompanied by our course accompanist.
We are very delighted to welcome back Katherine Baker as our guest tutor on Sunday
this year and Matt Smith will once again be with us for the entire weekend leading
many of our classes as well as giving a piccolo masterclass. He will be assisted
by Kirsty Hetherington, course organiser. Our course accompanist is the fantastic
Zoe Smith and Top Wind will be on-hand with a shop full of flutes and music as well
as Andy’s excellent flute maintenance advice.
Check out our Gallery page for pictures and video of previous courses to give you
a flavour of what to expect.
